About the Position

Our client is a well-established private boarding school located on a serene campus a short distance from the Lagos Toll Gate. This co-educational secondary setting provides excellent academic delivery while preparing students for an ever-changing world.

They are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Boarding House Parent to take responsibility for the day to day running of the boarding house, as well as taking an active role in the pastoral and wellbeing needs of students.

As this is a residential position, the job holder will assist the Head of Boarding and the Principal in planning and delivering a wide range of sporting and social activities, including a weekly Saturday programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Head of Boarding to plan and lead activities outside of student lesson hours.
  • Be responsible for boarding students and encourage student involvement in the scheduled activities.
  • Carrying out boarding administration tasks to support the running of the boarding house i.e. meal time duty, roll call, assist with welcome and departures, checking boarding facilities, escorting students etc.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in any discipline.
  • Familiarity with statutory safeguarding and child protection requirements.
  • A good understanding of National Minimum Boarding Standards (NMBS) and a school’s statutory care obligations for 11–18 year olds.
  • 10 years post-qualification experience of working with children in a school setting (age range 11–18 years).
  • Demonstrate an approachable and relatable demeanour; exhibiting competence in working with students and staff.
  • Effective communication and good interpersonal skills
  • Conversant with the use of technology.
  • Willingness to take up duties within the boarding staff rota i.e. weekend and public holidays.
  • The possession of a First aid qualification and a keen interest and ability in sports will be an added advantage.
